Wild Carjacking Spree Terrorizes Brisbane: ‘Crazed’ Man Bites Truck Driver, Steals Multiple Vehicles and Remains on the Loose
- A truck driver was bitten by a crazed man who ripped him from his rig on Brisbane’s northside, leaving a trail of victims in his wake.
- The alleged carjacker, still on the run, stole multiple vehicles, including a truck, and left a path of destruction across Brisbane.
- The dramatic crime spree began in Logan and ended at the airport, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
The chaos began around 10:30 am on Thursday when officers spotted a white Holden Commodore travelling without number plates on Kingston Rd at Woodridge.
With the help of PolAir and specialist units, officers tracked the car as it moved south to Jimboomba, where a man allegedly dumped the Commodore and got into a white Mitsubishi Pajero, reported stolen from Swallow Street, Inala, in October 2025.
The Pajero was driven dangerously as it headed north before stopping at a café in Logan Village about 11:30 am.
It’s there that investigators allege two men approached a 72-year-old woman in her red Mazda 3, forcibly removed her from the car and stole it.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
As the pair fled, the stolen Mazda allegedly slammed into multiple vehicles, including a Hyundai Tucson, a Kia Optima, and a Mazda BT-50, before continuing north.
Tracked again by Polair, the car was later involved in another crash on Nudgee Rd at Nudgee, this time colliding with a Volkswagen Golf. Both men then ran from the scene.
Police arrested the passenger, 29-year-old Brock Tassone, nearby, while the second man remains outstanding. Tassone has been charged with multiple offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving without a licence.
But the crime spree didn’t end there. The second man allegedly stole another vehicle, this time a truck, and continued his rampage.
The driver of the truck told 7NEWS the man “started getting really aggressive, so I just tried to kick him away.” “He then proceeded to bite me on the arm,” he said.
“He was pretty much completely in the vehicle and he was telling me he was going to stab me. So, I just got out of the vehicle and let him take it.”
The man allegedly stole another car and drove to the airport, where he almost crashed into Daryl Bertwhistle’s car before ploughing into a motorbike.
“The guy was trying to get out of the car to steal a motorbike, but he couldn’t because the bike was jammed up against the door,” Bertwhistle said.
Bertwhistle said the man then drove to a carpark and approached a young woman who was sitting in her car. “Got into the passenger seat and then forced her to drive and told her…
I’ll give you $5000 to take me to Woodridge.”
Analysis: What This Means for Australia
This brazen crime spree has raised serious concerns about public safety and the ability of law enforcement to keep up with dangerous criminals.
The fact that the second man remains on the run, despite the efforts of police, is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by authorities in keeping our communities safe.
Security analysts say that this incident highlights the need for increased investment in policing and community engagement to prevent such crimes from occurring in the first place.
Law enforcement insiders warn that the rise of violent carjackings is a growing trend, with criminals becoming increasingly brazen and dangerous.
The fact that this incident involved multiple vehicles and left a trail of victims is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of such crimes on innocent people.
Industry observers believe that this incident will lead to a renewed focus on crime prevention and community safety initiatives, with a particular emphasis on addressing the root causes of such behaviour.
As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the people of Brisbane are demanding action to keep their communities safe from such violent criminals.
