A shocking incident unfolded at a suburban Melbourne shopping centre on Friday, leaving one man dead.
The drama began when a man attempted to rob a Liquor Land store at Lynbrook Village Shopping Centre, prompting a police response.
What Happened?
The man, who has not been named, entered the shopping centre around 12:30 pm. As police chased him, he reportedly barricaded himself in a toilet cubicle.
Tragically, the man was found dead at the scene a short time later with injuries believed to be self-inflicted.
Investigation Underway
The homicide squad detectives will investigate the incident, with assistance from Professional Standards Command, as the man’s death occurred in police presence.
The corridor to the toilets remains closed to the public as the investigation continues.
