In a shocking and tragic turn of events, a 72-year-old man lost his life in a horrific three-car crash on the New England Highway in the Hunter Valley region of NSW. The devastating incident occurred at approximately 1.40pm on Friday, leaving a community in mourning.
The elderly driver’s blue Mazda CX5 wagon was involved in a catastrophic collision with a Nissan Navara ute and a Toyota Tundra at Glennies Creek, near Singleton. Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found the Mazda driver deceased.
Miraculously, the driver and passenger of the ute managed to free themselves from the wreckage, with paramedics treating them at the scene. The 42-year-old woman, a passenger in the ute, was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries, while the driver escaped unharmed.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra involved in the crash also escaped physical injury. As investigations into the cause of the crash continue, a report will be prepared for the coroner.
