In a shocking display of brutality, a 34-year-old man from Moggill allegedly unleashed a violent frenzy on the Gold Coast, leaving three innocent people injured, including a police officer. The terrifying ordeal began on Friday night when the man, said to be waiting in the shadows, pounced on an unsuspecting 18-year-old man on Christine Avenue in Varsity Lakes.
The young victim was left unconscious with serious head injuries, sparking a desperate call for help from a heroic 27-year-old Good Samaritan, who was then allegedly assaulted by the same attacker. “I was just trying to help, and then I became the next target,” the shaken woman revealed.
Police arrived promptly, but the man’s aggression didn’t subside, with him allegedly spitting on an officer during the arrest. “It was like he had no regard for human life or authority,” a senior police officer said.
The 18-year-old victim remains in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital, while the Good Samaritan was treated for minor injuries. The accused attacker is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday, facing a string of serious charges, including grievous bodily harm, serious assault of a police officer, and common assault.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as they work to unravel the motives behind this senseless attack. “We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served,” authorities vowed.
