In a devastating blow to Coronation Street star Debbie Rush, her son William has died suddenly at the age of 31, just days before Christmas. The beloved British actress shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, leaving fans and friends in shock.
William, whose cause of death is still unknown, had made a name for himself in the acting world with roles in popular TV shows Waterloo Road, Grange Hill, and Coronation Street. He had also appeared on The X Factor in 2016, wowing judges with his rendition of Zara Larsson’s Lush Life.
In a poignant tribute to her son, Debbie wrote: “Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December. As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss.” She added that William had given the “most precious gift of all” through his organ donation, which has given hope and life to other families.
Debbie’s Coronation Street co-star Sally Dynevor was among those who paid tribute to William, saying: “Oh Debbie I’m so shocked to hear this news. Sending you so much love. What a beautiful boy he was.” Waterloo Road actress Katie McGlynn also offered her condolences, saying: “Debbie I am so sorry to you all. Will brought a smile to everyone’s face and was a very kind soul.”
William leaves behind his parents Debbie and Andrew, as well as siblings Poppy and Tom. His sister Poppy, also an actress, has starred in rival soap EastEnders. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate their unimaginable grief, but messages of support have poured in from fans and friends.
In a heartbreaking development, Debbie revealed that William’s kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy, saying: “Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end.”
