In a devastating turn of events, Colombian pop sensation Yeison Jiménez and his entire band have perished in a tragic plane crash, just hours after the singer revealed a series of chilling dreams in which he predicted his own death.
The light aircraft, carrying Jiménez and five others, took off from a small airfield in Paipa, central Colombia, before crashing and bursting into flames. Witnesses reported hearing cries of “the runway is run out” as the plane struggled to gain altitude.
Jiménez, 34, had recently spoken of three recurring dreams in which he predicted his own death in a plane crash. In an interview with Colombian TV station Caracol, he revealed: “I dreamt three times that we were going to have a plane crash and that I had to tell the pilot to turn around. And when he arrived, he’d say, ‘Oh, boss, thank goodness you told me because something went wrong, but I fixed it, get in.’”
The singer’s team has confirmed his death, describing the loss as “indescribable” and honouring him as a son, brother, and friend who inspired thousands. “We express our most sincere condolences to their families, friends, and fans,” said Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority in a statement.
Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children, including his stepdaughter Camila, who paid tribute to him online: “I love you dad. You don’t know how much it hurts me to see your videos and for you not to be here.”
Fans and fellow artists have also paid tribute to the singer, with musician Andrés García saying: “I dare say that we’ve lost the number one artist in the popular music genre in Colombia and the world. What a great legacy you left us, @yeison_jimenez, an artist who didn’t live with arrogance, with remarkable humility. Fly high, Champion. Strength to all his family.”
